Launch of CAPE Green Engineering

CXC and the Ministry of Education in Guyana launched the latest New Generation CAPE subject, Green Engineering, on Thursday 28 July at the Theatre Arts Guild in Georgetown.

The Honourable Dr Rupert Roopnarine, Minister of Education in Guyana delivered the feature address at the launch. Mr Horace Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the Hinterland Electrification Company was the guest speaker. Mr Howard Campbell, Senior Assistant Registrar, Syllabus and Curriculum Division spoke about the philosophical underpinnings of the new syllabus, while Dr Paulette Bynoe, a member of the subject panel spoke about the syllabus development process.

Dance performance by the National School of Dance and poetry by Mark Luke Edwards and Keon Heywood punctuated the speeches. The national School of Dance performed a piece entitled “Techniks” while the poetic performance was entitled “Green – the Way to Go”. The poem, written and performed by Mark Luke-Edwards and Keon Heywood, brought rapturous applauses from the audience.

Another New Generation CAPE subject, Financial Services is expected to be launched in Antigua and Barbuda during the final week of August 2016.
