Authority to Register Candidates
The authority to register candidates in each territory is vested in the Office of the CXC Local Registrar which is usually located in the Ministry of Education. In the case of Jamaica, the Office of the CXC Local Registrar is located in the Overseas Examinations Office.
An educational institution desirous of entering candidates for CXC examinations must first be registered at the Office of the Local Registrar as an examination centre. An individual desirous of entering as a candidate for CXC examinations must be registered at the Office of the Local Registrar as a private candidate.
Method of Registration
The registration of candidates should be done electronically using the latest release of the Online Registration System (ORS) software application. The ORS application can be accessed from the CXC website. CXC will only accept registration data sent via the Office of the Local Registrar. CXC will not in any circumstances enter into correspondence with an applicant (or a person acting on behalf of an applicant) whose application for registration has been refused by a Local Registrar or rejected by CXC
.
Deadlines for the Submission of Registration Data
Deadlines by which candidates must register for examinations offered by CXC are determined by the Local Registrar in each territory. The deadline for the submission of candidate entries for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) January sitting is usually in the month of September of the year preceding the examinations. The deadline for the submission of candidate entries for the CSEC and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) May-June sittings is usually in the month of November of the year preceding the examinations. The deadline for the submission of candidate entries for the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) June sitting is usually in the month of December of the year preceding the examinations. Institutions and candidates should contact the Local Registrar in their territory for the specific deadline dates by which registration must be completed.
Late Registration
Late entries will NOT normally be accepted by CXC. However, in cases of exceptional hardship CXC may, after consultation with the Local Registrar concerned and, at its discretion, accept a late registration or a change of one or more subjects.
SCALE OF FEES
Kindly note that the fees listed below are denoted in Barbados dollars (BDS$2 = US$1) and are subject to change in accordance with the Council’s policy. The CXC Local Registrar in each territory reserves the right to level additional charges (normally referred to as local fees) to off-set any administrative and processing costs.
