The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has made several key appointments to its staff in the Barbados and Jamaica offices in the last two months.
Dr Carol Granston, who has been acting in the post of Pro-Registrar since April 2014, Western Zone Office (WZO), Jamaica, has been confirmed as Pro Registrar. The appointment was ratified at the 47thCouncil Meeting in Belize on 4 December 2015.
Dr Granston joined the Council in July 2010 as Senior Assistant Registrar, Syllabus and Curriculum Development.
As Pro-Registrar, Dr Granston’s responsibilities include the management of the Council’s property and of all aspects of work undertaken at WZO, including the servicing of the School Examinations Committee (SEC) and its Sub-Committee (SUBSEC), and the work of the National Committees established in the Participating Territories.
Dr Granston, a Jamaican national, is an education technology specialist and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Instructional Design and Technology from the University of South Florida.
The post of Pro Registrar is the second most senior position at CXC.
Senior Assistant Registrar – Human Resource Division
Mrs Currency-Hunte joined the staff of CXC® on 9 January 2012 as Human Resource Business Partner – Compensation and Benefits.
As Head of the Human Resource Division, she has responsibility for developing human resource policies and programmes for the organisation, strategic human resource planning, compensation and benefits management, recruitment, learning and development, and employee and industrial relations.
Mrs Currency-Hunte has over 20 years’ experience in various areas of human resource development and holds two human resource designations: the Senior Professional designation in HR (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute in the United States, as well as the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM SCP) designation with the Society of Human Resource Management, also in the United States. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
Two staff appointments have been made at the Assistant Registrar level.
Assistant Registrar – Business Development
Ms Clarke possesses a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida (USF), and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Sector Management from the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus.
Ms Clarke is a Certified Entrepreneurship Master Trainer and Instructor and has Certification in USAID Audit Compliance.
She was a National Development Scholarship awardee, a recipient of the ‘Kauffman Entrepreneurial Internship Alumni First Outstanding Alumnus’ at USF and has been featured in the University of South Florida’s Magazine Building Business.
Assistant Registrar – Statistician
Mr Griffith possesses a Master’s of Science degree in Economics from the City University of New York, Brooklyn College and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering.
He is currently a UWI 50th Anniversary Post Graduate Scholarship awardee pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree and a former recipient of the Professor Myles Bassell Student Success Scholarship in Economics.
Mr Griffith is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Society for Computational Economics.
He has taught mathematics and statistical techniques for over five years at university level. Mr Griffith becomes the first statistician at CXC.
