Why Language Literacy?

•       The competencies that allow for communication in various contexts for various purposes in a changing world    (international understanding, knowledge economy)
•       Language as the tool that allows individuals to organize, communicate and reflect on their lives and the world
•       Language as the medium through which all learning is facilitated
•       Language as a facilitator of thinking and problem solving skills
