The CXC Hall of Fame serves to honour the contributors to the success of this great regional establishment.
Herbert Rudolph Daniel 1973 - 1977

Major Daniel was the first Registrar of Council. He was contracted on secondment from the Government of Barbados in November, 1973.
He had a distinguished public service career. He was a secondary school master at Harrison College, Barbados where he lectured for 11 years in Mathematics. He also lectured at the Barbados Evening Institute.
Major Daniel was an Assistant Secretary in the Barbados Public Service. He also served in the short-live Federal Public Service of the West Indies as Federal Defence Officer and senior administrative civil service officer, Federal Public Service of the West Indies from 1956 to 1962.
After the breakup of the federation he held posts of Chief Personnel Officer, Barbados Public Service, Chief Training Officer, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Major Daniel was a graduate of London University (B.S. External Division).
He is credited with putting a lot of the CXC systems in place in the early days.

Wilfred Beckles 1978 - 1996

Mr Beckles was seconded from University of the West Indies for one year in first instance in 1978. He was later contracted for three years. In 1981 he was appointed to the permanent staff.
Mr Beckles joined the Council as it was in the final stages of preparation for offering the first CSEC examinations in 1979. He oversaw the operations of that first offering of CSEC. Under his leadership, CSEC subject offerings expanded significantly.

Irene Walter 1996 - 1998

Mrs Walter was first contracted in August, 1974 to the post of Pro-Registrar, WZO, with Responsibility Jamaica, Belize, Turks and Caicos Islands, Cayman Islands and in charge of developing CXC’s syllabuses. This involved working in the area of curriculum development with Ministries of Education and Curriculum Specialists of regional participating governments.
She later became the Council’s first female Registrar in 1996 and retired in 1998.
Mrs Walter managed the activities leading to the development of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) which was launched in 1998, her final year with the Council.
Mrs Walter holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Columbia University and also has a Diploma in Management.

Dr Lucy Steward 1998 - 2008

Dr Steward joined the Council in October 1998 after a four-year stint as Chief Programme Officer, Human Resource Development Division, Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
She also served as Chief, Education Section, Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM), in Georgetown, Guyana, from 1989 to 1994.
Dr Steward holds both a PhD and MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Pennsylvania State University, USA.
During her tenure, CXC launched several new qualifications, including the CXC Associate Degree, the Certificate in Business Studies, Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQs) and the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC).
