It has taken some time to arrive but we wanted to ensure that the new CXC website be a fitting representation of where we want CXC to be. We would like to make this site the most authoritative location for students/learners, parents, teachers and employers on educational opportunity, examinations and certification in the Caribbean and its Diaspora.
To this end, the site will:
- provide information on CXC exams
- explain the various forms of certification offered by CXC and their value
- facilitate e-services (purchase of learning support material, accessing CXC services)
- provide interactive portals for better learning and teaching
Ultimately it is you - the user of the website - who will judge whether we have been successful. We depend on your feedback to guide us in making this website continually responsive to your needs. CXC is listening – are you talking?
What you are viewing is more than just a re-designed website. It is the start of a whole new way of working at CXC. This is the first step in becoming an online, one stop source of information, resource rich and interactive medium for building relationships with the Caribbean public that we serve. Students/Learners, parents, employers, schools and universities will be able to access the information and the services that they need from us through the portals of this site.
The website that you see today will grow and evolve weekly. Behind the scene, we are feverishly working with strategic partners to offer interactive learning and teaching support portals; increasingly more and more CXC services will be available online; e-commerce capabilities will be progressively expanded to make it easier for examination candidates to access vital material.
The synergy between this website and our social network presence on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube will make possible a whole new world of possibility for learners in the not too distant future. Imagine the day when we can email candidate timetables directly to them, send SMS updates and reminders on your SBAs, text exam preparation tips to your cell phones!
The future is upon us with competitive fury and we must respond with innovation, passion and determination to its challenges. CXC is ready to do so and we invite the Caribbean and its Diaspora to help us get there.

Two days ago I was alerted to a scheme whereby exam scripts are being removed after candidates have written the exam to be completed/redone by external individuals and then re-submitted before the marking exercise commences. This seriously impacts the integrity of CXC and calls into question the validity of any certificate awarded to a candidate. It means that a candidate can achieve a grade I in a subject, being credited for work that is not his/her own, when the candidate really deserves a grade V.
Please make every effort to increase security measures to guard against these breaches so that CXC's name can be preserved.

Frustration in Jamaica
I recently sat CXC physics May/June 2011. I subsequently got an ungraded because my private school did not submit my SBA Grade. The school has admitted fault on their part.
However is there any way I could still get a grade as I sat both Physics papers and the school is in possession of my SBA book and grade.
Is there anyway CXC could have some mercy for a student who did nothing wrong?
I am absolutely crushed and frustrated at my future prospects. The time and effort spent for this year are irreplaceable, I am considering my next step. Any advice please??
Can someone please help me
Can someone please help me gain access to a CSEC Biology Syllabus..please email me the if you have a link at veardajhandipchan@yahoo.....Thank you

While I agree with the
While I agree with the changes in teaching/learning techniques, I wonder if a change in syllabi, especially in the Foreign languages would not further facilitate fun learning. The current syllabi are too wide and often find teachers struggling to complete rather than give adequate practice for actual learning and a sense of accomplishment.

No, SBA is submitted by Centre. The candidate would have to be registered through a school/institution, tutored independently and the school agree to accept the scores from his private tutor. This is something that would have to be agreed with the school. If the school declines this arrangement, the candidate should register as a private candidate and write the alternative paper.

I understand your concern. Unfortunately we do not publish these dates as the ministry of education from the various territories would establish their own dates to meet our deadline. You would need to contact your local Ministry for further details on these processes
Hi, while the CXC calendar is up. It contains no current information on CXC deadlines. For example, what is the deadline for submission of exam queries to CXC? This information is not available. Also, is there a CXC deadline for receipt of entries for the exams in 2011 and what are they?
I like the new site and I have found it very interactive and informative.
Would a student who has completed the POA as a private student and got a grade 3, who wants to repeat it in January 2011 have to resit paper 3/2? From reading notes to the 2011 January timetable item 7 it seems not. Please confirm.
syllabuses are available through Ian Randle Publishers http://www.ianrandlepublishers.com/cxc/. Through some bookstores http://www.cxc.org/examinations/exams/cape/list-subjects/art-design/syll... and at the CXC office in Barbados and Jamaica.
i will be taking english and pob exam in jan 2011 i would like to get some past paper and syllabus
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will post the correct information as soon as possible.
Well done on the new website, however need to update the music exam report for 2008 and 2009. Although 2008 is there it is really 2007's report.
This new website is excellent!
It is a wonderful improvement over the old website and we at www.caribexams.org congratulate CXC on the revamp.
Looking forward to interfacing with the new site.
P.S. This blog looks like where a lot of the conversation is taking place....
Most of our syllabuses come with specimen papers which provide sample Multiple choice questions. The teacher should ensure she accesses these. In addition to specimen multiple choice papers published by CXC, there are several on-line resources that provide guidance on classroom assessment including writing multiple choice items. One such link, which gives a list of “Do’s and Don’ts” for item writers is:
http://testing.byu.edu/info/handbooks/Multiple-Choice%20Item%20Writing%2...
I am having some difficult writing multiple-choice questions. i was hoping that cxc would post some sample questions or even publish a few questions in the new books to come. Could you suggest a few ideas to help in the mean time.

Dear Andy
Thanks for your kind words about the new website. With respect to the syllabuses being made available online, CXC syllabuses will now be published by a private publishing company and they do have an online store. In due course, I am sure they will make them available on their website.
Thank you June. We welcome strategic collaboration with all who are striving to make a difference in the learning and achieving of our children. KiddiCrew.Com is a great Caribbean effort - our own Sesseme Street with its own cultural flair.
Congrats Dr. D on this website and the presentation in Grenada on Tuesday evening. Thinking seriously about the new learning centres we need to embark on. Hope to pull some thinkers together to see how we can be part of this in a very positive way. KiddiCrew Inc needs to be part of this.

Well done on the site and the 'whole new way of working', hopefully we can find a 'whole new way of working' in schools with CXC's inspiration.
Just one question. Are there plans to put all of the Syllabus contents online? This would be very useful.
Thanks
Andy
