ACCA/CAPE Accounting Workshop

ACCA/CAPE Accounting Workshop

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®) has an ongoing partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).  The partnership includes the provision of teacher training CSEC® Principles of Accounts and CAPE® Accounting Syllabuses.

The first of two CAPE® Accounting workshops was hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MOEYI), Jamaica on Thursday 4 April 2019, at the Caenwood Centre Auditorium, 37 Arnold Road, Kingston 5.  The second workshop is scheduled to be held on the 2 May 2019 in Montego Bay. The workshops are being facilitated by Mrs Sharon Donaldson, Chartered Accountant/ACCA Facilitator.

The workshops are designed to empower teachers to deliver topics in the CAPE® Accounting syllabus and share best practices with the attendees as well as expose them to available resources to support the delivery of the syllabus. Approximately forty teachers from high schools across Jamaica participated in the Kingston workshop.

There were also displays from stakeholders including publishers, (Hodder and Collins), First Heritage Cooperative Bank, and the Sagicor Group. The team was led by Mrs Claudia Jack and Mrs Debbie Ann Hall from the Syllabus and Curriculum Development Division, Mrs Paula Marcelle-Irish (ACCA), and Mr Conrad Valentine, MOEYI.
