Staff Learning and Development continue to be pivotal to ensuring human performance improvement throughout the organisation and as such is linked to CXC’s organisational strategic priorities.

The main areas of learning and development initiatives at CXC focused on:
Current job performance improvement – job related developmental areas as identified by the employee assessments and developmental plans.

Organisational capacity – associated with the implementation of new software and focus on continuous improvement.

Advancement and promotion – leadership and succession planning developmental activities.

Educational programmes / Personal benefits – individually initiated development goals of staff.

Key activities for the year included the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) conference in Arizona which was attended by Dr Charles Mayenga, Dr Carol Granston, Mr Rodney Payne and Mrs Julia Grant-Medford; the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference in Philadelphia which was attended by Dr Charles Mayenga and Mrs Brendalee Cato; the Worldwide Luminary Leadercast Seminar hosted by the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) was attended by Ms Eleanor McKnight; the international Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) conference in Singapore was attended by Dr Carol Granston; the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) conference in Orlando which was attended by Mrs Deborah Currency-Hunte; the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) Summer Institute 2014 offered by Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale was attended by Mrs Cherryl Stephens and Mrs Alsian Brown-Perry; the annual SAGE ACCPAC Summit in Las Vegas which was attended by Mrs Sharon Armstrong-Mullah, Mrs Marine Hall-Edey and Mrs Cecile Wedderburn; the American Society of Administrative Professionals (ASAP) conference in Washington, DC was attended by Ms Eva Gordon and Ms Paula Nicholls. In addition, Dr Carol Granston commenced the Harvard Business School’s Leadership Development programme; Mr Cleveland Sam completed a certification in Copy Editing offered by the UC Berkeley Extension Programme; Mrs Deborah Currency-Hunte acquired her SPHR certification; Dr Nordia Weekes acquired her doctorate degree; Mr Wayne Morgan and Ms Christine Victor completed baccalaureates; and Ms Julianne Williams is scheduled to complete her Masters in Project Management by the end of the year.
