Day with a difference at Headquarters, Barbados was held on Friday 31 October 2014 at The Boatyard, which is one of the island’s popular tourist venues. The event was well attended and participation in the planned events was at a high level. It was a day filled with fun and frolic, and included a variety of activities, prizes and surprises. Activities included the search for the “CXC Fugitive” who was nabbed by Wayne Morgan at the Water Front Café in Cavans Lane, Bridgetown. Other activities included a basketball hoop shooting competition, dominoes, 50M dash for both males and females. A big hit for the day was the scavenger hunt which saw teams of two scouring the environs of the facility to obtain specific items. The prize for participation was won by none other than the Dr Charles Mayenga, Senior Assistant Registrar in the Examinations Development and Production Division who exemplified what day with a difference is about.

In the final analysis it was felt that the planned event were successful and met the intended purpose which was to provide an opportunity for staff to relax, have fun, build cross divisional camaraderie and engage in friendly rivalry and competition.

The Western Zone Office successfully hosted its 2014 Staff Day with a Difference on Friday 26 September 2014. The schedule for the day saw staff visiting Paint Ball Jamaica (Martha Brae, Trelawny) where they participated in a competitive game of paintball under the supervision of our trained and experienced Paintball Marshalls. Staff then left Paintball Jamaica and headed to Club Hotel Riu (Ochi Rios, St. Ann), where they were engaged in team activities such as running, tug-of-war and spin-around-the-stick.

The competitive spirit of participants from Team Eagles and Team Ravens must be commended. They all made the DWAD one to remember. At the end of the activities Team Ravens amassed the highest score and was awarded winner of 2014 DWAD. By all accounts, the activities were well received and everyone enjoyed this shared experience.
