The Council enjoyed a very good year with its media relations and coverage of events. There were no unfavourable stories during the year under review. All of the CXC events and press releases received coverage. The launch of the five New Generation CAPE subjects in May and the release of May/June results in August received extensive coverage in the regional press.

Mr Cleveland Sam, Assistant Registrar – Public Information and Customer Services gave an interview to The Nation newspaper and the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) on CCSLC workshops for English and Mathematics teachers in Barbados. The workshops were held in conjunction with Nelson Thornes.

7 May
Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Acting Registrar and Mrs Marcia Brandon, CAPE Entrepreneurship Panel member were guests on Mornin’ Barbados television programme on the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). They discussed the New Generation CAPE subjects and the launch of the subjects in the Caribbean.

8 May
Mr Cleveland Sam, Assistant Registrar – Public Information and Customer Services, and Dr Sherma Roberts, member of CAPE Tourism Panel were guests on Mornin’ Barbados television programme on the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). They discussed the New Generation CAPE subjects.

12 May
Dr Francis Davis, Panel Convener for CAPE Agricultural Science was a guest on First Up television programme on CNMG. Dr Francis spoke about CAPE Agricultural Science syllabus.

15 May
Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Registrar (Acting) made an appearance on CNC 3’s Morning Brew television programme.

15 May
Dr Carol Granston, Acting Pro Registrar and Ms Carole Beckford were guests on Smile Jamaica television programme. They discussed the new CAPE subjects and the launch slated for Jamaica on 20 May.

19 May
Dr Carol Granston, Acting Pro Registrar of CXC was a guest on The Front Page on Nationwide 90 FM radio.

10 June
Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Registrar (Acting) gave an in-depth interview to RJR’s Reporter/ Producer Ms Marilyn Facey about gender differentials in performance at CSEC. Ms Facey was visiting Barbados as the winner of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association 2014 Travel Bursary.

18 June
Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Registrar (Acting) was interviewed on Beyond the Headlines on RJR radio about e-marking.

19 June

17 August
Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Registrar (Acting) made an appearance on NBC Radio St Vincent and the Grenadines programme Views and Issues dealing with the topic “ICT in Education: Charting the way forward in the 21st Century.”

Mr Cleveland Sam, AR PICS, participated in “The Big Issue” programme on Observer Radio in Antigua and Barbuda about the CSEC results along with Mr Myrick Smith, LR Antigua and Barbuda.
