CPEA Training for St Lucian Teachers

Teachers in St Lucia are now better prepared to implement the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment or CPEA programme. This following a two-day sensitisation training workshop held on 25 and 26 May at the Montessori Centre in St Lucia. Twenty-two teachers from the island participated in the workshop, which was conducted by Mrs Alsian Brown-Perry, Assistant Registrar, Syllabus and Curriculum Development Division, based at the Western Zone Office, Jamaica.

The objectives of the training were to equip the teachers with the competencies in using the assessment model for the CPEA to guide pupils’ progress and achievement; ensure that pupils are engaged in the learning process; give pupils the relevant feedback to enable them improve their performance and assist them in recognising the role of self-assessment in advancing their learning, and plan interventions and differentiated instruction based on assessment results to support pupils’ continued progress.
