CXC attends the Inaugural Windward Islands Debating Competition

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) was represented by Assistant Registrar (Webmaster), Mr Ayodele Pompey, at the Inaugural Windward Islands Debating Competition (WIDC) held at the Coco Palm Hotel in St Lucia from 3 – 4 March 2017.  The competition was spearheaded by the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) under the distinguished patronage of the Governor General of St Lucia, Dame Pearlette Louisy.  The theme of the competition was “Intellectual Enrichment for Leadership”.

The Dominica State College emerged as winners of the debating competition as they defeated the T.A. Marryshow Community College of Grenada debating team in the finals.  The moot was entitled, “Economic Citizenship Programmes are the best route to economic prosperity for Small Island Developing States (SIDS)”.  In the semifinals, T.A. Marryshow Community College defeated the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College while the Dominica State College eased past the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.  The award for overall speaker was awarded to Almira Lewis from the Dominica State College.
