During the week of 23-27 October 2017, the Registrar, Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch and Pro-Registrar, Dr Carol Granston were involved in a number of engagement activities with various stakeholder groups in Jamaica. Meetings were held with a team from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, the Jamaica Employers Federation (JEF), Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC), Private Security Regulation Authority (PSRA), and ACCA.

The sessions with the MOEYI and the OEC focused on the University Council of Jamaica recognition of the CXC Associate Degree, as currently structured, as a higher education qualification where a maximum of 48 credits may be granted for transfer to related bachelor’s degree programmes for advanced placement; the future directions of the Council and the role of various stakeholder groups in helping the Council achieve its mandate; and new product offerings of the Council.

The session with the JEF looked at the range of products offered by the Council and the value of each to employers. The meeting also explored ways in which the Council could work with the JEF to meet the needs of employers in Jamaica.

The ACCA team was visiting Jamaica during that week and used the opportunity to meet with the Registrar and Pro Registrar to discuss the specifics of the recently signed MOU between both parties.
