CXC showcases in the world of STEM at Science and Technology Festival

Today, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) development continues to flourish in our community and the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) continues to be part of that development. As such, CXC was part of the inaugural two-day Science and Technology Festival held at the University of the West Indies (UWI) – Cave Hill Campus on March 14 and 15 to participate and learn more about our rich history in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Hosted by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and the UWI, hundreds of students from nursery, primary and secondary schools were reminded that science was not only fun but could also reaped numerous benefits and improve lives.

At the CXC exhibit, under the theme “Discover the Joys and Wonders of Science” we engaged with students who learnt about CXC’s product offerings while playing CXC Jeopardy as well as showcased the journey of CXC moving from a paper-based institution towards a CXC e-Experience – via e-Marking, e-Testing, e-Authoring and e-Certificates.

We also highlighted CXC’s new generation subjects which are linked directly to the economies of the region. The list includes Digital Media, Logistics and Supply Chain Operations, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Performing Arts, Agriculture Science, Physical Education and Sport, Green Engineering, Animation and Game Design and Financial Services Studies. Currently Design and Technology and Biotechnology are being developed. Work will begin this year on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
