Great Response to CXC Stakeholder Meetings in Antigua

CXC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Antigua and Barbuda hosted a series of stakeholder engagements in Antigua on April 11th and 12th. The response to the engagements was positive and welcoming.

The CXC team comprised Mr James Young, a Measurement and Evaluation Officer in the Examinations Development and Production Division and Cleveland Sam, Public Relations Manager. Meetings were held with the two major business organisations in Antigua: Antigua and Barbuda Employers’ Federation and the Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Two public meetings were held: one on Wednesday 11 April with third form students and their parents, and the other on Thursday 12 April with fifth form students and their parents. Both meetings were well attended by parents, students and educators, and were very interactive.

Presentations were done during the students and parents meetings on topics including CXC suite of examinations, international recognition of CXC qualifications, career planning and subject selection, managing school-based assessment and approaching CXC examinations questions. Other education institutions in Antigua and Barbuda were invited to participate; the UWI Open Campus, Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology, Antigua State College and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The CXC team members also participated in two media appearances while in Antigua. They were guests on Antigua and Barbuda Today on Wednesday 11 April and on Observer Radio morning show on Thursday 12 April.
