The January 2016 sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) went smoothly. Thirteen subjects were administered during the sitting, all at the General Proficiency level. Some 18, 532 candidates registered for the examinations, an increase over 2015 when 16, 689 candidates registered. There was however a decline in the number of subject entries submitted this year, 39, 617 compared with 40, 938 subject entries in 2015.
