Dominica became the first beneficiary of CXC’s thrust to forge closer working relationship with private educational institutions offering CXC qualifications. On Wednesday 15 and Thursday 17 August, CXC partnered with the three private institutions in the Nature Isle to host a private education institutions fair. The three institutions are Business Training Centre, Lead Institute and Academix School of Learning.
The two-day event was held on Independence Street, in front of Jays Bookstore in capital city Roseau and started with a brief ceremony, which was carried live on radio. CXC Local Registrar in Dominica, Magalie Celestine gave the opening remarks at the ceremony and welcomed the institutions and patrons to the fair. Public Relations Manager of CXC, Cleveland Sam spoke on behalf of the examinations body and gave the background to the fair. Sam said, “We believe that these institutions play a vital role in their country to provide access to students from all walks of life, both adults and secondary school students, based on what the institutions are offering.”
