Stakeholder Engagements in Jamaica

Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, CXC Registrar and Dr Carol Granston, Pro Registrar engaged several groups of stakeholders in Jamaica during the period 18 – 20 January.

Meetings were held with a wide cross section of stakeholders including the CXC National Committee, National Parent Teacher Association of Jamaica, the Jamaica Teachers Association, Jamaica Independent Schools Association, Principals and Vice Principals Association, Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools.

A meeting was also held with Honourable Rev. Ronald Thwaites, Minister of Education and other ministry officials.

During the meetings with stakeholders, the Registrar made a presentation that focussed on the landscape as it exists in the Caribbean: the context, CXC intervention, and plans for 2016- 2018. Discussions centred on the availability of learning resources, eTesting, eMarking, eResults and the readiness of Jamaica to implement.

Over the next three months, CXC representatives will be engaging stakeholders in Participating Countries on various issues.
