REGISTRAR’S ENGAGEMENTS

As Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC, the Registrar maintains a busy schedule of stakeholder engagements, meetings with policy makers and representing CXC at various fora. The following represents the Registrar’s schedule in 2017:

January 12 – 14 | Virgin Islands (UK)

The Registrar participated in the first of a series of public education fora hosted by the OECS entitled “Education: Creating Tomorrow’s Leaders Today”

February 12 – 15 | Grenada

  • The Registrar met with Honourable Anthony Boatswain, Minister of Education, Grenada, Permanent Secretary Rouse and technical staff from the Ministry of Education about the current and future plans of the Council
  • A meeting was held with the Associate Dean and other officers of St George’s University

March 1 – 2 | Guyana

The Registrar attended and presented at the 45th Joint Meeting of the Executive and Education Committees and 14th Meeting of the Practice Committee of the Regional Nursing Board

March 12 – 16 | Guyana

Belize The Registrar and the Project Team for the Belize Secondary Reform Project met with various stakeholder groups to review the project’s concept and critically assess the implications for implementation in Belize

March 22 – 24 | Caribbean Netherlands (St Eustatius, Saba& St Maarten)

The Registrar conducted meetings with several stakeholder groups; e.g. members of school boards, principals, teachers, parents, and students. He gave talks on the CCSLC, submission of School-Based Assessments for Mathematics and English, the general changes related to completion and submission of School-Based Assessments and the electronic testing process that CXC has introduced for Multiple Choice questions

March 30 – 31 | Guyana

The Registrar attended the 32nd meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development [COHSOD]

April 11 | Barbados

Presented a public lecture under the auspices of the Barbados Museum & Historical Society entitled, “The Development, Challenges” and “Contribution of the Caribbean Examinations Council.”

April 27 – 28 | St Lucia

Attended and co-presented at a workshop hosted by the French Embassy to the OECS Member States and Barbados

May 4 | Guyana

CARICOM Joint Meeting of the Secretary-General and Heads of Community Institutions and the CARICOM Committee

May 22 – 25 | Turks & Caicos Islands

CDB Annual Board of Governors Meeting

May 29 – June 2 | Jamaica

The Registrar met with the:

  • Minister of Education, Permanent Secretary and Chief Education Officer
  • The Jamaica Teachers’ Association
  • The Overseas Examinations Commission
  • The National Parent Teachers’ Association

June 20 – 23 | Jamaica

The Registrar attended the Biennial Conference of the UWI Schools of Education

July 4 – 6 | Grenada

The Registrar attended the 38th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government

July 12 – 18 | China

The Registrar attended a study tour in collaboration with the Confucius Institute of Barbados

July 20 – 21 | New York

The Registrar attended the 9th CARICOM-UN General Meeting

September 12 – 13 | Jamaica

The Registrar attended the CARICOM Regional Education Stakeholders’ meeting

September 26 | Trinidad

The Registrar met with the Minister of Education and Ministry officers

October 1 – 6 | Georgia

The Registrar attended the 2017 IAEA Conference in Georgia as CXC’s representative at the conference and the special meeting of the Full Organisational members of IAEA to discuss the draft Strategic Plan for IAEA

October 23 – 27 | Jamaica

The Registrar held stakeholder meetings with:

  • the Minister of Education
  • Jamaica’s Minister of National Security
  • the Jamaica Teachers’ Association
  • the Overseas Examinations Commission
  • the Jamaica Employers Federation

December 6 | Jamaica

The Registrar attended the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) conference with its theme “Outsource to the Caribbean” and participated in the panel discussion regarding Caribbean Talent
