The Employee of the Year award programme, is based on the performance of staff members during the period January to December of every year. The objective is to reward outstanding effort and high performance, encourage innovative and strategic thinking, encourage efficiency, effectiveness and high productivity, motivate staff members and to reinforce the aims and objectives of CXC and to ensure that employee behavior is directed to their attainment.

The winner of this year’s award will receive a miniature plaque with their name inscribed. Their name will also be inscribed on an institutional plaque which shall be displayed prominently in the lobby area. The employee will receive a three-day, all-expenses paid trip to the Western Zone Office in Jamaica, in addition to a parking space reserved for a one-year period. The Employee of the Year will be expected to present the award in 2017, to their successor.

The Council is pleased to announce the award for the Employee of the Year 2015 to Mrs Andrea Gill-Mason of the Examinations Development and Production Division.

Andrea’s employment relationship with CXC dates back to Friday, 15 August 1986, when she was temporarily appointed as a Clerk/Typist to the Personnel/Office Management. The following year, she was assigned to the Measurement & Evaluation Division and the CXC/ACCC/CIDA Project Unit. She was appointed as a Stenotypist on the 1 September 1988 in the former Measurement and Evaluation Division, now Examinations Development and Production. Andrea was promoted to Item Bank Clerk in the same Division on 1 March 2008, and again on 1 July 2010 to her current post of Senior Secretary.

Andrea is considered as one who communicates effectively, interacts well with colleagues, supports activities of the Council, contributes significantly, and demonstrates a high level of commitment to the work of the Division and the Council.
