Launch of Financial Services Studies

The Ministry of Education and Culture in the British Virgin Islands will host the launch of the new Financial Services Studies syllabus for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) on Thursday 3 November 2016.

The launch event will take place at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Tortola and starts at 10:00 am.

Dr the Honourable Kedrick Pickering, Acting Premier of the Virgin Islands (UK) will deliver the feature address, while Honourable Myron Walwyn, Minister of Education and Culture will deliver an address.

Mrs Lorna Smith, OBE, Director of BVI Finance the marketing and promotions arm of the BVI Financial Services sector will be the guest speaker, representing the Financial Services Sector in the Virgin Islands. Scandinavian FinTech giant Sambla will be making an appearance, announcing the launch of their new financial services lending platform that allows consumers in Norway and Sweden to borrow money online.

Mr Glenroy Cumberbatch, Registrar of the Caribbean Examinations Council will give remarks. Dr Anette Piper, Assistant Registrar in the Syllabus and Curriculum Development Division will give an overview of the CAPE Financial Services syllabus and the processed used to develop the syllabus.

Performances from students of the HL Stoutt Community College and the Elmore Stoutt High School will punctuate the speeches.
